Fusion Austin Wedding: Iffat + Andrew

1 Comment Featured Engagement, Mehndi

Today we are featuring the beautiful wedding of Iffat and Andrew, photographed by Austin wedding photographer Studio Uma.

Iffat and Andrew created a weekend of fusion wedding celebrations, that was a reflection of their Pakistani and Midwest cultures. The wedding festivities began with a fun Mehendi ceremony, with dholki, and performances by family members. The bright yellows, and greens, adds to the festive mood of the Mehendi celebrations. Iffat is adorned by beautiful floral jewelry, and henna on her hands.

The wedding day included not one but two official wedding ceremonies, including the Nikkah, which is the traditional Muslim marriage ceremony. Iffat looks gorgeous in a royal blue “Laacha” style lehenga, and Andrew makes for a very handsome groom in a sherwani complete with a turban. I love the vibrant blues, maroons, and gold colors used in the decor for the Nikkah.
The bride and groom kicked off the reception with their grand entrance, dancing to Gangnam Style. The reception features stunning views of the downtown Austin, which are the courtesy of the top floor ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Austin. I adore the reception decor, which features orchids, roses, candles, and beautiful willow branches.
My favorite photos of the wedding are from the Joota Chupai. At the wedding reception, there was an entertaining and intense negotiation between the bride’s sisters, cousins, and Andrew. The best man stepped up to negotiate on behalf of the outnumbered groom. The wedding celebrations concluded with a bouquet toss, and vidaii.

This week we are featuring a beautiful Sindhi – South Indian fusion wedding of Radhika and Vikas photographed by Shreya Sen Photography. We are kicking this off with their Mehndi and Sangeet Ceremony.

The beautiful Mehndi and Sangeet of Radhika and Vikas infused the traditions from North and South India. Radhika looks gorgeous in a brocade purple lengha, which is shorter in length, and is paired with a bright red choli and a gorgeous yellow dupatta. The outfit was designed by Sister of the bride, Aarti, herself. Loving the bride’s gorgeous mehndi, and all the pretty colors and props used at this event.

Now you all know how much I love Marigolds. I feel it totally sums up the essence of Indian weddings, which are all about traditions, families, fun, and gorgeous colors. When I saw Radhika and Vikas’s Mehndi/ Sangeet photos, it was not a surprise, that I totally fell in love with their gorgeous Marigold decor, and how the families came together in a super fun celebration for the lovely couple. Got to love these Memorable Marigold Moments!

Stay tuned – we will be back tomorrow with their beautiful South Indian wedding ceremony!

Featured Wedding: Smita and Sandeep

The pictures of Smita and Sandeep’s wedding look like they are out of a fairytale storybook. Smita looks like a beautiful Princess, and Sandeep like a charming Prince.  I adore how happy both Smita and Sandeep look in all the pictures.

The couple got married in a Hindu wedding ceremony at a beautiful outdoors venue, which is very reminiscent of a Mediterranean Estate. I love the colors that the bride chose for the wedding – absolutely perfect for a summer wedding.

Smita’s bridal ensemble is so well put together! From her stunning lengha, beautiful mehndi, lovely jewelry, and pretty bangles – everything is so well coordinated and looks amazing! The lengha has beautiful zardozi embroidery and kundan details. I simply love how the tikka compliments her gorgeous face.

And how lovely is the apple green and fuchsia decor?! The aisle, which is covered with rose petals and decorated with beautiful floral arrangements, leads up to a breathtaking wedding altar. The mandap has a beautiful golden canopy and the pillars are draped in roses and hydrangeas.

Enjoy the beautiful pictures from this wedding by True Photography Weddings. Stay tuned, coz tomorrow we will be back with their stunning Reception pictures.

Mehndi Inspired Mehndi Decor

1 Comment centerpieces, colors, decor, Mehndi

Fun, Festive, and Fabulous: these three words perfectly sum up Mehndi. In the festive spirit of Mehndi, today we are featuring decor inspiration for your Mehndi. I love how the various elements of the decor tie together to create a fabulous ambience: bright orange and fuchsia colored flowers, lush fabrics and overlays, mehndi patterned lamp shades, gorgeous centerpieces, lounge style seating, crystals, candles, and chandeliers.

How fun would this set up be for your mehndi!? The lounge style seating creates a more relaxed environment for your guests, which is definitely more conducive to mingling. I can already imagine a beautiful bride getting mehndi applied on her hands and feet, while her bridesmaids gather around, giggling and chatting.
